The NVFC has partnered with PH&S Products to provide 100 volunteer fire departments with Get-A-Grip Gloves through the “Glove On!” Giveaway. Eligible departments can enter to win two boxes of black Get-A-Grip Gloves, which have been permeation tested against fentanyl, heroin, and gastric acid to protect responders working in high-risk situations. The NVFC has launched a new course in the Virtual Classroom on First Responder Resilience: How to Bounce Back. This course teaches volunteer responders resilience strategies that can help them better cope with traumatic calls and the daily grind so they can stay in the game and retire emotionally and physically healthy. The deadline to apply for the CHEMTREC® HELP Award is September 1. Two NVFC members will receive a $10,000 grant to help their volunteer fire department enhance their response capabilities and increase local preparedness to respond to and prepare for hazardous materials incidents. There is still time to register for the NVFC’s Recruitment & Retention Experience. This educational and networking conference takes place September 16-17 in Mesa, AZ, and will focus on critical issues relating to volunteer fire and emergency service staffing. The NVFC has partnered with NPPGov to help fire and EMS departments save time and money. NVFC members can utilize NPPGov’s competitively bid agreements to purchase products and services above the threshold at national tier pricing without having to conduct their own RFP process. The NVFC has two upcoming free webinars. Lithium-Ion Batteries: What Firefighters Need to Know takes place on August 4 at 2 pm ET and will discuss the risks associated with these types of batteries and address effective tactics for emergency response. Cellular Data: The Crucial Link in Department and Operation Management takes place on August 18 at 2 pm ET and looks at how departments can use FirstNet to enhance their operations. The NVFC is hosting a live discussion in August on Electric and Hybrid Vehicles: Safety Concerns and Implications for Emergency Responders. Subject matter experts will discuss safety considerations when responding to EV incidents.
