The Oshkosh Fire Department is a completely career department that provides a full range of services to the community from its six fire stations that are strategically located throughout the city. The Oshkosh Fire Department has received the highest possible rating of 1/10 by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) based on its ability to prevent, respond to and suppress fires within the city in an efficient and timely manner. The department’s 110 team members achieve this mission by providing fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical services, special event coverage, and emergency management to the city of Oshkosh. We also provide advanced life support ambulance services to numerous nearby cities, townships, and villages. As a full-service department, we are prepared to respond to many other types of special circumstances such as hazardous materials spills, ice and open water rescue, dive rescue, and aircraft rescue firefighting.

Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent; major course work in or completion of an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science or a related field is desirable.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Wisconsin Firefighter I and II Certifications.
· Nationally Registered Paramedic or Wisconsin Licensed Paramedic.
· Wisconsin Driver Operator Pumper and Aerial or equivalent as required by Wisconsin Statute SPS 330 prior to completion of probation.
· Hazardous Materials Technician and Wisconsin Fire Inspector I certifications are desirable.
· Previous related work experience or internship as a firefighter and/or paramedic is desirable.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $52,885–79,175.

The Village of Howard is accepting applications for full-time Firefighters to join our department. Howard Fire Rescue operates on a 48/96 rotation, providing both EMS and fire coverage to the Village of Howard. The firefighter will be the primary ambulance and engine staffing assigned to the station, reporting to the on-duty Lieutenant. This external process is being run concurrently with an internal process.
Pay
Current Firefighter pay range - $62,961 to $86,112 based on qualifications, licensure level, and years of service.
Lateral Transfers
Consideration in compensation will be given for prior fire service experience at the time of hiring. This may include pay step and/or vacation accrual.
Benefits
The Village offers a competitive insurance package (health, dental, vision, and life), paid time off, and participates in the retirement program, including deferred comp, through the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
Residency Requirements
There is no residency requirement for employment at Howard Fire Rescue, however filling of call backs for duty crew requires a maximum response time of 15 minutes to Station 1.
